Beach clean up!
My friend and i decided to do a bit of a beach clean up! Used to the pristine clean beaches we are blessed with in Suffolk we were both shocked to see that an overnight storm had dredged up some serious flotsam and jetsom! With good intentions and a secret hope that we might find some treasures, (driftwood and sculptural litter ) we set off on the coldest day of the year armed with plastic sacks, bobble hats and a couple of quid so we could detour after our efforts to Thorpeness Emporium cafe for a hot chocolate! After half an hour of having our bin liners whipped into a frenzy by the wind we had bagged plenty of, what can only be described as ...grotty old crap and an enormous welly boot! In the absence of any promising looking artefacts we both fell on said welly boot in excitement and glee and desperately scanned the beach for its partner as it was a particularly stylish and attractive welly boot of a nautical sea fairing variety. Sadly we didn't find the other boot, nor did we come across any hobbling one legged sailors and we retired to the local cafe feeling smug that we had done our bit for conservation for that week!
